Training Camp, Day 1----It Begins....

The Redskins are on the field!

After a walk-through earlier this morning, the Redskins began their first official practice of 2013 Training Camp mid-afternoon in front of thousands donned in burgundy and gold at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond.

Combined attendance for today's opening day activities is expected to run anywhere from 7,500 to 10,000 fans.

After the morning walk-through, running back Alfred Morris met the media for the first time in Richmond. Coming off a stellar rookie season, his bar is set high for 2013.

"You can always top production," Morris said. "It comes down to willingness and, I guess, how bad you want it in a sense. I always hold myself at a higher standard and I love a challenge."

Morris is one of two second-year players expected to do great things offensively for the 'Skins in 2013, and I think you've heard of the other guy.

The assembled erupted this morning when Robert Griffin III made his first public appearance on the Richmond turf, albeit without his knee brace. But that only lasted a minute as a member of the training staff ran toward RGIII and handed it to him.

This afternoon the teams were going through drills that did include pads, but no player on player contact. We expect to hear from head coach Mike Shanahan for the first time publicly here in Richmond following practice.
